The Humidor Announces Grand Opening of Relocated Cigar Shop and Smoking Lounge

Winston Churchill, Mark Twain, Babe Ruth, John F. Kennedy, Michael Jordan, Jack Nicholson, Bill Clinton, Bruce Willis. What do all these famous people have in common? The love of a great cigar.

Monterey, CA, March 31, 2016 — Winston Churchill, Mark Twain, Babe Ruth, John F. Kennedy, Michael Jordan, Jack Nicholson, Bill Clinton, Bruce Willis. What do all these famous people have in common? The love of a great cigar.

In fact, it was the great American writer and wit Mark Twain who quipped, “Eating and sleeping are the only activities that should be allowed to interrupt a man’s enjoyment of his cigar.”

With that in mind, The Humidor Fine Cigars is announcing the grand opening of its new store and smoking lounge Sunday, May 1, relocated to 765 Wave Street in Monterey, just above the renowned The Whaling Station restaurant.

The goal of The Humidor is to foster a community of people who can share the cigar experience in a unique and inviting lounge environment. A “cigar sanctuary,” if you will.

The Humidor was created to provide the cigar aficionado with discriminating tastes a place where they can come to enjoy the good life.

“Cigars are all about slowing things down and enjoying life to its fullest,” said David Wilcox, owner-operator of The Humidor. “To smoke a great cigar is to savor life and all its ups and downs, to relax and wind down, take your worries off your shoulders and just enjoy.”
The great cigar maker Zino Davidoff once said, “A wisely chosen cigar to me, is like a weapon against certain of life's torments, in some mysterious way, a little blue smoke chases them away.”

The Humidor focuses on the craft and artisanal aspects of cigars in a comfortable lounge environment. Listen to cool jazz, sit in your comfy leather chair and relax, far away from the grind of your workday. It's only a couple of blocks away from a Cannery Row, but a world away from your worries.

AtThe Humidor, you'll find:

• Numerous brands of premium cigars, including Padron, Fuente, Opus X, Tatuaje, Gurkha, Rocky Patel, Ashton, and many more, plus accessories from Dupont, Xikar, Lotus and Prometheus.

• A vast assortment of cigars available in strictly monitored walk-in humidors. It also carries pipes, specialty tobaccos and other smoking accessories.

• A state-of-the-art ventilation system, comfortable leather chairs and big screen high-definition televisions — two in a private lounge, one in the public lounge — create an experience like no other.

• The Peninsula Club will have one main smoking lounge, a game room, an eight-person dining table or conference table. Reserve a room to host your board meeting in a cigar-friendly environment! Or reserve it for a private dinner party with food from The Whaling Station or Sardine Factory restaurants.

• A business center with computers and a copier/fax/printer.

• A media room with a big screen, hi-def TV to screen movies, this room will also serve as a quiet room, or smaller private lounge if groups want to break off from the main lounge environment.

Become a member of The Humidor's The Peninsula Club and you can enjoy their VIP members-only lounge, a BYOB area where you can bring your favorite spirits, sit in comfortable leather chairs and enjoy sports or entertainment on big-screen high-def TVs.

Membership represents more than the opportunity of exclusive cigar prices, access to a cigar lounge and a personalized humidified cigar locker. It offers a unique opportunity to develop camaraderie within a special group of like-minded cigar lovers who refuse to accept the ordinary and mundane.

Standard full membership requires a one-time initiation fee of $2,000, then $150 a month dues.

Annual membership benefits include the following:

The Clement Palo Alto, Opening March 2016 Offers a 6-Star Experience in the Heart of Silicon Valley with Unparalleled Personal Service in All-Inclusive Luxury

When The Clement Palo Alto opens its doors in March 2016, it will be one of the most innovative, personalized and unique luxury hotels in the country.

Palo Alto, CA, March 29, 2016 - When The Clement Palo Alto opens its doors in March 2016, it will be one of the most innovative, personalized and unique luxury hotels in the country.

With 23 spacious and richly appointed one-bedroom suites, The Clement Palo Alto sets a new standard for personalized luxury accommodations in a contemporary residential-style atmosphere.

While unparalleled service is key to any great luxury hotel, The Clement Palo Alto takes its impeccable service to another level with an all-inclusive concept, including personalized concierge services, breakfast, lunch and dinner in an on-premise location of the guest's choice. All wine, beer and cocktails, in-room mini-refrigerator (stocked with the guest's favorites), and fully-stocked Guest Pantry available around the clock, are just a few of the amenities included in this all-inclusive experience.

In fact, The Clement Palo Alto is more than all-inclusive, it is all-exclusive, catering exclusively to the guest's personal tastes and desires.

No detail has been overlooked at The Clement Hotel, from the guest's favorite sparkling water and snacks in the mini-fridge to the plush Stearns & Foster European pillow top California King beds with luxurious Frette bed linens.

"The inspiration for this hotel came about when my wife and I took a getaway trip to the island of Bali," says Clement Chen III, president of Pacific Hotel Management, LLC, creators of The Clement Hotel, Palo Alto. "We stayed at a small hotel there that left a deep impression on us. Everybody at the hotel - even the gardening staff -knew our names, and everyone there was so warm and personable. And, since all of the staff knew who we were, we never had to sign a check for anything. We didn't feel like we were customers at a hotel - we were able to just relax and enjoy our stay, like being at home, only better!"

That memorable hotel stay convinced Mr. Chen that the same experience would be well-received in the U.S., and that has been the guiding vision for The Clement Hotel.

"I want each guest to feel like a guest, not a customer," says Chen. "I loved the feeling of not having to sign a check or worry about tipping every time I turned around. That is why we have all-inclusive pricing. We want our guests to feel like they are house guests at a great residence with a terrific service staff."

The moment guests arrive at the front door, they will step into an oasis of sophistication, service and comfort. Instead of the typical lobby and registration desk of most hotels, guests at The Clement Palo Alto will be greeted by their own Personal Concierge.

This Personal Concierge will have an iPad with all the pertinent information about the guests, including their wants and needs, and take them directly to their rooms. The Personal Concierge will take care of the guests for the duration of their stay and take care of all their personal needs.

During their stay, guests can have breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared in The Kitchen, the hotel's open kitchen, with an executive chef presiding over the menu tailored to their tastes and requirements. Guests can dine in The Dining Room, the outdoor Dining Terrace, the privacy of their guest suite, or in a private cabana on the private roof-top pool deck overlooking the picturesque Stanford University campus.

Guests also have access to the beautifully appointed communal guest kitchen, which is similar to a high-end residential kitchen, with access to a fully stocked guest pantry that is available around the clock.

The 650-square-foot, one-bedroom suites offer modern and sophisticated comfort reflecting the Northern California lifestyle. Each suite provides an intuitive layout with an array of carefully curated amenities to enhance the guest's stay. State-of-the-art technology is combined with comfort of the highest quality, such as sumptuous Frette linens, 65-inch Samsung Smart TVs, Nespresso Vertuoline coffee machines, and fully stocked in-room refrigerators.

Spacious stone-lined bathrooms include a soaking tub and a separate glass-enclosed shower, lighted makeup mirrors at a dry vanity area, and a TV behind the mirrors, just a few of the features that will delight their senses.

Other luxurious touches include remote-controlled motorized draperies, a desk fully stocked with office supplies and a connectivity panel for Internet and charging, robe options and slippers of the guest's choice in the spacious closets.

The common areas of the hotel feature the elegant Living Room, which is accented with a stone fireplace and is the perfect location to relax with a favorite cocktail or glass of wine. Or they can enjoy the firepit on the outdoor Dining Terrace or at the roof-top deck with a swimming pool, whirlpool and private cabanas.

In addition, there is a fully equipped exercise room on the second floor of the hotel available to guests 24 hours.

The interior design of The Clement Palo Alto was created by Stanford Hughes of the renowned, award-winning San Francisco hotel design firm Brayton Hughes Design Studios.

Hughes says his design takes its inspiration from the hotel's architecture, which he describes as "an abstraction of traditional Manor House."

"The decor is contemporary, elegant and comfortable. It offers a warm, alluring ambiance in an intimate residential scale," says Hughes, whose firm's award-winning designs include Four Seasons Hotel Chicago and The Ritz-Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe. "The interior design offers a perfect blend of contemporary and classic elements. The palette of warm neutral colors and natural materials creates a soothing, cozy and relaxing environment. It is elegant and minimal, yet highly livable.

The Clement Palo Alto is more than a hotel, it is a home away from home."

The Clement Palo Alto's all-inclusive services and amenities include:

• All-inclusive breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks
• All-inclusive wine, beer and cocktails (charges apply for premium brands)
• All-inclusive in-room dining
• All-inclusive mini-bar

InterContinental The Clement Monterey the Perfect Location for the Perfect Dream Wedding in the Heart of Cannery Row

Mesmerizing ocean views, bay breezes and coastal scenery that will captivate hearts and souls — those are just some of the highlights of a dream wedding at the award-winning InterContinental The Clement Monterey.

Monterey, CA, March 28, 2016 - Mesmerizing ocean views, bay breezes and coastal scenery that will captivate hearts and souls — those are just some of the highlights of a dream wedding at the award-winning InterContinental The Clement Monterey.

Situated on Monterey's historic Cannery Row made famous by Nobel Prize-winning author John Steinbeck, this spectacular oceanfront hotel offers beautiful wedding venues overlooking the sapphire-blue waters of the bay.

One of the most romantic wedding locations on Monterey Bay, The Clement Monterey offers a wide range of wedding services — from catering to spa treatments — that can make any wedding unforgettable.

The Clement Monterey has garnered numerous awards and accolades since it opened in May 2008, including the Condé Nast Traveler Top 25 In Northern California Readers Choice Award; TripAdvisor's 2014 Certificate of Excellence; Sunset Magazine's Top 10 California Coast Hotels; and every year, the AAA Four Diamond Award, which is awarded to the most luxurious and pampering properties throughout North America. Less than 4% of AAA-rated properties achieve this coveted rating.

The prestigious US News & World Report gave it a 4.5 Star rating of luxury hotels it surveyed.

“InterContinental The Clement Monterey's location on Cannery Row is hard to beat,” the publication wrote. “Guests appreciate the hotel's proximity to good shopping, delicious eateries, and attractions like the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Described as a home-away-from-home by some, this InterContinental property also features a health club, pool, and oceanfront patio that makes guests never want to leave. The C Restaurant also garners good to excellent reviews, particularly for its seafood.”

With an excellent selection of magnificent wedding venues overlooking Monterey Bay, The Clement Monterey can be a magical destination for any wedding celebration.

Wedding ceremonies can be staged on an expansive courtyard facing the sapphire-blue waters of the bay. Two fire pits provide an ambient glow, particularly romantic at sunset. Couples can say their vows with the bay in the background, while seabirds trace graceful curves on the horizon, and otters and sea lions frolic in the waves.

With such a picturesque setting, guests can enjoy social hour out in the fresh ocean air as well. While the bridal party poses for pictures, guests will enjoy the hotel’s boardwalk and pier, which extends out over the bay. Cut-outs along the wooden pier reveal tantalizing peeks directly down at the teeming underwater world of the Monterey Bay Sanctuary.

As twilight descends, guests can retire indoors to admire the vista from another perspective. The Pacific Ballroom is a refined setting for a bayside gala, replete with picture windows that capture a panorama of the moonlit ocean and the star-filled heavens.

Decorating with luminarias and fairy lights brings the sparkle indoors — the banquet staff can customize an event according to the bride and groom's wishes.

The view is even more impressive from the Ocean Terrace Ballroom, located upstairs. It’s an intimate space that boasts a huge bayview terrace.

The Pacific Ballroom can accommodate from 150-230 guests, while the Ocean Ballroom holds from 25-150 guests for receptions and other functions.

The resort’s equally impressive public spaces are tranquil and welcoming, thanks to the stylish use of wood and other natural materials, along with décor in soothing shades of green and blue, evocative of the sea and sky.

One of the most notable spaces is the Reading Room, warmed by a contemporary stone-faced fireplace. Adjacent to the Reading Room, the Library serves as a private dining salon that’s perfect for formal rehearsal dinners.

The wedding party can enjoy fresh, innovative coastal cuisine from The Clement's celebrated chefs and culinary experts. The hotel's dedicated catering team will create a wedding feast, including sumptuous entrees like Arctic Char Papillote and Roasted Angus Beef Tenderloin, delicious hors d'oeuvres and fresh salads. Menus also include champagne and a premium selection of spirits, wines and beverages.

Hotel accommodations feature up-to-the-minute amenities, and many have fireplaces, ocean views and balconies. The on-site spa pampers guests with the latest in beautification and wellness treatments. VIP Babysitting is also available for children, enabling parents to enjoy the wedding celebration.

One of the benefits of a wedding at The Clement Monterey is that friends and family can enjoy a mini-vacation, because there’s simply no end to the area’s fun-filled activities and sights, from Old Fisherman's Wharf to Pebble Beach, Carmel-by-the-Sea and Big Sur.

And one of its advantages is that the hotel is situated in the heart of historic Cannery Row, once the home of a thriving sardine fishing and canning industry.

Throughout the years, Monterey’s timeless natural beauty has been the inspiration for artists, poets and novelists alike. Recently, a downtown renaissance has put a glamorous polish on historic districts like Cannery Row, and author Steinbeck would be amazed to see these formerly rough-and-tumble dockside streets dramatically transformed into a thoroughly modern boulevard.

It's been a long time since Steinbeck referred to Cannery Row as “a poem, a stink, a grating noise, a quality of light, a tone, a habit, a nostalgia, a dream” in his celebrated novel “Cannery Row.”

Today’s Cannery Row is alive with fashionable boutiques, delectable eateries, upscale galleries and a vibrant street scene that attracts visitors from all over the world. And right next door, literally steps from the hotel, sits the word-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Can this quaint yet oh-so-now slice of paradise get any better? Yes, it can. InterContinental The Clement Monterey was designed as a serene coastal retreat for personal rejuvenation and a luxury destination for the discerning traveler, but it's also the perfect location for the perfect dream wedding.

InterContinental The Clement Monterey
Overlooking Monterey Bay and next door to the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium is Monterey’s premier waterfront hotel, InterContinental The Clement Monterey. Situated on historic Cannery Row, the hotel offers affordable luxury in the heart of it all. The stylish C restaurant provides stunning ocean views from every table, and features the C bar and the open-air C side patio. Enjoy The Spa, fitness center and whirlpool, as well as Monterey’s most desirable location, situated on the pristine Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

Americana Singer-Songwriter RJ Comer Redefines his Musical Style on his Latest EP Release, Nightly Suicide out March 25!

Americana and Blues seeps through this singer-songwriter’s upcoming release, Nightly Suicide, due out March 25th via Growling Moon Records.

Los Angeles, CA, March 25, 2016 - Americana and Blues seeps through this singer-songwriter’s upcoming release, Nightly Suicide, due out March 25th via Growling Moon Records.

The highly anticipated EP is RJ Comer’s second EP release as a solo artist. RJ is previously known as the lead singer of Dance Hall Pimps, a seven-piece blues-rock band. He steps away from the septet and falls back on his roots with a down to earth, pure acoustic sound that showcases the songwriter’s raw emotions.

The six song EP highlights RJ’s gritty, soulful vocals along with his impeccable songwriting lyrical skills. This is his most intimate and personal collection of songs dealing with addiction, failed relationships, redemption, and the open road. The poetic lyrics come alive through RJ’s haunting vocals and dark guitar riffs.

The Nightly Suicide EP focuses on RJ’s Blues-based, Americana-Rock influences featuring lead single and title track “Nightly Suicide,” which is his homage to Charles Bukowski—the poet laureate of barflies. The song also illustrates RJ’s early life, which he describes as “a lot of heavy drinking and nightly self-destruction.”

The EP also includes RJ’s upcoming single and music video, “The Moon Ain’t Fallen On Me Yet.” With “Moon” RJ returns to his frequent themes of redemption and survival. The second single is expected to be released in mid-April.

As a performer, RJ has toured as a solo artist from British Columbia, Canada to New Orleans. He just performed four shows in Austin during SXSW week. RJ’s powerful voice, his captivating and emotional live performances, and his infectious songs have garnered fans in biker bars, on Bourbon Street, and in coffee houses and concert halls. Talents as diverse as A.J. Croce, C.C. Adcock, and Grammy-winner Matt Hyde have produced tracks with RJ.

Singer-Songwriter RJ Comer Returns with his Solo Project and New Single “Nightly Suicide” Feb 26 on Itunes Music Video out March 7th

Comer’s Highly Antipicated EP Will Be Released March 25th

Los Angeles, CA, March 14, 2016 — Formerly the front man of the Dance Hall Pimps, RJ Comer redefines his musical style with a stripped down version of Americana Rock. RJ released his new single “Nightly Suicide” on February 26th with an accompanying music video due out March 7th. This is first single off of his upcoming EP also named, Nightly Suicide and will be released on March 25th.

The metaphorical title track is RJ’s homage to Charles Bukowski—the poet laureate of barflies. The song also illustrates RJ’s early life, which he describes as “a lot of heavy drinking and nightly self-destruction.” Comer’s gritty, soulful vocals and dark riffs authentically convey the stark and sometimes surreal lyrics and imagery of the song.

“I like songs and music videos that tell stories; they put the emotion of the song in a more powerful context than just singing ‘I feel this way; I feel that way.’”—RJ Comer

The music video is inspired by Bukowski’s screenplay Barfly. Marcos Tinez plays the younger RJ, a lonesome alcoholic who is wearing the identical hat RJ is wearing in other clips of the music video to connect past and present. Directed by Guillermo Rodriguez, “Nightly Suicide” was filmed in Granada, Spain and at Los Angeles’s legendary music venue, The Mint.

The soon-to-be released EP Nightly Suicide will be available for presale on March 11th.

RJ has toured as a solo artist from British Columbia, Canada to New Orleans. His powerful voice, his captivating and emotional live performances, and his infectious songs have garnered fans in biker bars, on Bourbon Street, and in coffee houses and opera houses. Talents as diverse as A.J. Croce, C.C. Adcock, and Grammy-winner Matt Hyde have produced tracks with RJ.
